Four mistakes most people make when they start cash envelope budgeting

Here's four mistakes most people make when cash envelope budgeting.

  1. Underestimating Expenses: Ignoring or downplaying actual spending needs. Sick kid and you think it's the sniffles? It turns into an urgent care visit.
  2. Inconsistent Tracking: Failing to consistently record every expense. "I'll remember to track this later" is a lie you tell yourself.
  3. Ignoring Emergencies: Neglecting to allocate funds for unexpected costs. The emergency fund is there for a reason. Don't add more stress when unexpected things pop up.
  4. Rigid Planning: Being too inflexible with budget allocations. Or, being too flexible. There is a beautiful balance that you need to seek of having covered categories where you make progress but not too few.

Remember, growth often stems from discomfort. I've made these mistakes and I hope if you're new to this journey that you learn from my errors.
